If the members and music of Humble Soul could be described in one word, “respect” would be it. Humble Soul’s brand of Roots Reggae is thoughtful, deliberate, and brings awareness to the things in everyday life that shape an experience. It’s no wonder that fans from Brazil, to Japan, South Africa to England resonate so strongly with their music.
Humble Soul is led by founding member, lead singer, and song writer Doug Bautista. With their solid message and powerful delivery, Humble Soul’s performances leave their crowds with an impression of Hawaii Roots Reggae that is not easily forgotten. Their sound is rich and substantial, summoning clear emotions in their listeners. With word of Humble Soul’s performances spreading and upcoming engagements at some of the biggest festivals around, Humble Soul is stirring up their own unique uprising in the months to come.
Hailing out of Mānana, O’ahu, Kapu System is made up of 7 talented and experienced musicians who all share a common love for music with messages of truth, rights, consciousness and positivity. They have all found that “roots reggae” music delivers an unexplainable vibe which helps get these messages across. Whether its in a lovers rock, roots or dub style, the feeling of heavy drum and bass, skanks of a guitar and bubbly keys mixed together with perfectly timed harmonies, echoes and reverb will help translate the musical message.
Kapu System formed in 2010 and has since been able to walk a fine line of being well respected in the music community while also remaining true to their underground foundation. They have since branched out to countless shows on the outer islands and have also had the privilege of touring the West Coast with California’s own Ital Vibes. They have played alongside and have been supporting acts for MANY reggae trailblazers near and far such as Mykal Rose of Black Uhuru, Wailing Souls, Martin Campbell, Sister Carol, Ranking Joe, Ooklah The Moc, Father Psalms, Mike Love, Inna Vision, Rootikal Riddim, For Peace Band, The Steppas, Leilani Wolfgramm, Fortunate Youth and House Of Shem, to name a few.
Founded in roots and culture, the band Kapu System, have the desire to re-awaken the law, order and balance of the traditional Kapu System which use to occupy these islands and to make todays society aware of the truth and rights of Hawai’is past and present so that we can bring justice into our future.
